Green Invasion !!

After each and every rotation, temptation is here : let's build a straight Burn or Aggro deck that does not care much about anything but.... Beating !! It may sound a bit complicated given all those 4 toughness creatures around in the meta, but here comes today's challenge.

Do few well selected cards fit the role? Can we make something that cares playing first and stomping all obstacles on its way? Can this deck afford being on the draw and can it still win game 3 in a match eventually? Well with Theros the answer will be YES, around the corner and possibly as a game stealer.

This list is still under playtest but it looks promising enough, versus Aggro or Control, it has to cast a threat per turn, have no waste draw in mid or late game, and I think it won't give you any headache thinking "what should I play now". There are options that still need to be play-tested as you can see from the sideboard featuring too many creatures. With No Surprise, there are many Main deck too.

Here's the list :

GREEN INVASION
Under playtesting by Adner

Creatures (33)
4 Crocanura
4 Slaughterhorn
4 Nessian Courser
4 Nessian Asp
4 Nylea's Disciple
4 Rumbling Baloth
3 Sporemound
2 Elvish Mystic
2 Battering Krasis
2 Sedge Scorpion

Other Spells (4)
4 Pit Fight

Lands (23)
23 Forests

Sideboard
2 Vulpine Goliath
3 Deadly Recluse
4 Advocate of the Beast
4 Sundering Growth
2 Battering Krasis
Curve starts a bit slow with only 2 mana accelerators aka  Elvish Mystic or  Sedge Scorpion. We don't want too many Mystics because they can contribute casting biggies sooner, but are not great threats draws mid or late game, let's even side them out for more threats if they don't help. Sedge is there to deal with any non first strike thread your opponent plays turn 1 or 2, even 3, or is even useful to face a Nessian Asp or any monster out mid or late game. Also a side board option if you need more powered bodies.

There's a dead end on turn 2 except a Slaughterhorn boosting one of them if needed, most of the time there's no need so don't waste them.
Turn 3 becomes serious, with Crocanura, Slaughterhorn, Nessian Courser or Battering Krasis. Play the evolve creatures first, not that you don't know by yourself. Relentless assault every turn if they are still busy playing gates or having mana issues.
Turn 4 gets scary, with either Rumbling Baloth or Nylea's Disciple, because they'll pump your evolve creatures already on the battlefield and willing to hurt opponent in big swings. The only 4 non creature spells  in the list, Pit Fight, will destroy nearly every obstacle in your way, allowing even bigger swings.
And Turn 5 is when you get out of fuel. Beware !! You can either cast a Sporemound so that every land you draw by now turns into a small blocker or finisher, or summon one of the best creatures in the metagame, aka Nessian Asp. Very few spells or removals will be left in opponents hand if he cares taking threats away until then, and it can instant pump in a 8/9 for 7 manas, making the seventh land draw more than useful.
Well that is a great programme ! In case opponent has answers to your early threats, he'll be in Topdeck mode or close when you are too. Thing is you'll keep on drawing and hopefully casting every threat you come to pick turn after turn, bringing more pressure on the battlefield. Of Course things will be more difficult on the draw, but there's hope in a 2 out of  3 match, unless some strategies or recursions bring you down fast enough so you know it...
Nylea's Disciple is great because it will help you racing out your opponent on healthpoints, and focus on atttacking and casting more power on the battlefield. Of course this list has bad matchups, let's find them out !!
P.S : This is not the Beast Deck, maybe it should, that's why the sideboard here is in a mess.
Any Backup from your own experience with Monogreen? Let us know !!
May your MBC opponent never draw his Garies,
until then,

Have fun !

Getting Ready !!! Or Trying, at least...

Theros has been released Online, a brand new Meta is coming !

The Clan is still recruiting, get in touch with us here or on MTGO if interested.

We are getting ready for some action and here are several objectives the Clan would like to achieve :

- Helping newcomers and new players finding their way to the Player Run Events and Standard Pauper Community at PDCMagic.com. All members willing to promote the format and those Events (MPDC and SPDC), please get in touch with Adner Online or send an Email to standardpauperplayers@gmail.com , entitled "Newbies Section Volunteer".

- Finding main and permanent hosts,  as well as co-hosts, for Standard Pauper Players Run Events on PDCMagic.com (MPDC and SPDC, possibly more in the future). There's a discussion going on about this HERE, be sure to take part of it if you are interested.

- Keeping an eye on the Metagame Evolutions, with several workgroups going on depending on your favorite playstyle : Workgroup AGGRO, Workgroup CONTROL, Workgroup COMBO, Workgroup WHATYOUFEELISRELEVANT (example), and so on.... The idea here is having several authors / players discussing the evolution of their favorite style or archetypes, submitting their decklists, posting videos... any suggestion or add-ons welcome there, because it's still in construction, like every point mentionned in this short article. Please get in touch with Adner Online or send an Email to standardpauperplayers@gmail.com , entitled "Metagame Workgroups".

- Gathering informations on sets reviews, cardpool available in the format, and more generally one or two players devoted to building links and relationships within the Standard Pauper Community and ressources dispatched online. please get in touch with Adner Online or send an Email to standardpauperplayers@gmail.com , entitled "Cardpool and Ressources".

These are just ideas at the moment, and they can and must be widely discussed.
A Clan and Community are essentially what YOU / WE make them, so just step in and get on board if you want and can afford taking a role in all this.

Three short words  : JUST SHOW UP !
